Norval Concerts: Mandla Mlangeni – Standard Bank Young Artist for Jazz 2019

June 16 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

R200
Norval Foundation’s Concert Programme is proud to present: Mandla Mlangeni

Watch the Standard Bank Young Artist for Jazz perform with a seven piece band live in Gallery 8.

They will be performing pieces from “Born To Be Black: A Celebration Of Conscious Soul”  – a musical vision which encompasses the echoes of South African township groove and no-holds-barred freedom alongside the vibrant and mesmerising chants of the drum. In the rich jazz history of old lions making inspired music with young ones, “Born To Be Black” is in every way a proclamation of our rich music history.

Featured Soloists:

Andile Yenana, Louis Moholo, Mandla Mlangeni (Trumpet), Nhlanhla Mahlanghu (Saxophone), Siya Makuzeni (Trombone), Ariel Zamonsky (Bass), Gontse Makhene (Percussion), Simphiwe Shiburi (Drums)

Join us for an early evening of South African Jazz in Gallery 8, with the option of a Late Lunch before the show at The Skotnes Restaurant.

  • Tickets cost R500 for the show, including a late lunch.
